Battery Support Unit

Battery Support Units are designed to keep a vehicle at a stable voltage while you work. Unlike a standard charger (which focuses on recharging the battery), a support unit is built to provide a steady supply so the vehicle’s electronics don’t see voltage dips during diagnostics, coding or ECU updates.

They’re ideal for modern vehicles packed with control modules, where low voltage can cause scan tools to disconnect, trigger low-voltage faults, or interrupt programming. Many battery support units offer a dedicated “support” or “power supply” mode (often around 13.5V for 12V systems) with controlled current output to handle workshop electrical loads safely and consistently.

If you’re unsure what amp rating you need, consider the vehicle type and the electrical load you’ll be running during the job — we can help you choose the right support unit for your setup.
