However, Makita offers up to 3 years of coverage on most of their tools if you register them online less than 30 days from purchase.
Only new tools purchased from Authorised Makita Resellers such as Tool Force are eligible for extended warranty. Makita products purchased from third-party non-authorised dealers cannot avail of warranty extensions.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register my Makita tool for extended 3-year warranty?
Read our Toolforce blog outlining how to register your tool for Makita Warranty:
https://blog.toolforce.ie/makita-free-3-year-extended-warranty/
We recommend doing this as soon as you receive your tool.
I’ve bought a multi-kit of Makita tools. Do I need to register them individually?
Yes. If you have purchased a Makita kit, consisting of more than one tool, you will need to register each tool individually within 30 days of purchase to qualify for the 3-year warranty. Each tool will have its own serial number and will need to be registered separately. You will receive a confirmation email for each tool that you register.
Where do I find the model of my Makita tool?
You can find the model of your Makita tool on the rating plate. The rating plate is a metallic label usually attached to the main body or motor housing of the tool. The model number is indicated by the letter M followed by a series of numbers and letters. For example, M1901 or M5801G.
Where can I find my Makita tool’s serial number?
You can find your Makita tool’s serial number on the rating plate of the tool. The rating plate is a metal label that is usually attached to the tool’s body or motor housing. The serial number is a unique 10-digit code that identifies your specific tool.
I have registered my Makita tool for the extended warranty, and it needs to be repaired – how do I organise it?
Because you’ve activated the extended warranty on your tool, you will now be able to:
- Arrange a pickup and drop-off location
- Explain the fault with the tool and add your number/email address for tracking
- Confirm your repair request
- Get your tool picked up
- Get your tool returned
Just visit https://www.makitauk.com/mymakita-login, log in, and find the tool you need to have looked at in the 'Show Tools' menu.
Makita will inspect your tool and confirm if it is covered by the extended warranty. If so, they will repair it and return it to you. If not, they will contact you and explain the reason and the cost of repair.
Do not return any product without first notifying the addressee in writing in advance that the product is going to be returned.
How do I package my Makita product for collection?
Remove any accessories, batteries, or chargers from the product and keep them for your own use.
You need to pack your tool in a sturdy box with sufficient padding to prevent damage during transit. Please wrap your tool well before sending it back for servicing. Any additional damage incurred in transport will not be covered under warranty as it isn’t part of the normal use.
You also need to include your contact details, a brief description of the fault, and the proof of purchase and warranty certificate (if covered by extended warranty) inside the box. Keep another copy for your own records.
Seal the box securely and attach the pre-paid (in cases of warranty) label provided by Makita UK Ltd. to the outside of the box. Have the box ready for collection at the agreed date and time by the courier service.
My Makita tool is over a year old, but I’ve forgotten to register it, is it entitled to warranty cover?
Your Makita tool is not entitled to warranty cover beyond a year from purchase if you have forgotten to register it within 30 days of purchase. You need to register your tool within 30 days of purchase to get the 3-year warranty, otherwise, you only have 1-year warranty.
You can still arrange a repair with Makita by contacting Makita UK on +44 1908 211678 or email servicecare@makitauk.com but please note there will be a charge associated with the inspection, shipping and repair or disposal.
I haven’t registered my Makita Tool for the extended warranty within 28 days, but it is still under a year old – how do I get it repaired?
